From the multiple New York Times bestselling author, Chainfire is the first book in a trilogy within Terry Goodkind's the Sword of Truth series, the basis for the TV show, Legend of the Seeker.

With Wizard's First Rule and seven subsequent masterpieces, Terry Goodkind has thrilled readers worldwide with the unique sweep of his storytelling. Now, in Chainfire, Goodkind returns with a new novel of Richard and Kahlan, the beginning of a sequence of novels that will bring their epic story to its culmination.

After being gravely injured in battle, Richard awakes to discover Kahlan missing. To his disbelief, no one remembers the woman he is frantically trying to find. Worse, no one believes that she really exists, or that he was ever married. Alone as never before, he must find the woman he loves more than life itself....if she is even still alive. If she was ever even real.

This entire book series is quite interesting. but there is a big "however" it drags on, what i mean is that its greatest strength is character development and interesting mechanisms concerning the magic of the world along with the philosophy that each of these characters possess. it leaves out pretty big chunk of potential spontaneous creative energy ive seen done better by other authors who've had the opposite flaws. the pages are full of characters talking and thinking of ancient magic... but only occasionally or somewhat frequently encountering it. Especially in the later books. on the flip side the characters are very human. they dont seem like characters but people all the way through and quite interesting people at that. Terry Goodkind was exceptional also in creating very highly detailed environments. If the man lived longer than he did and wrote more beyond the Nicci chronicles which introduced me to him im willing to bet he would have strengthened his weaknesses greatly

I found the previous three books in the series to be on a slow downward spiral causing me to lose interest in an otherwise fast paced time-sucking page turner. But now as the series nears it's it end Goodkind has cranked it back up to eleven and I just can't put it down once again. This book has reawakend my love the series and I couldn't be happier :)

Not much character develop as some of the other books this when there seems to be some things that are not possible and some that just make you want to go what I enjoyed it because I have loved all the books in this series but that's not the only reason he's getting too much in to philosophy and stuff in his books things that should just be left to the person and not for him trying to do
