This is perhaps the most boring book of the series. 99% of it is just about side characters. I suppose you can say it adds world building, but in truth, it's a drag to read when the main characters are not a part of it. I read the first 400 pages of the book and then skipped to the last 150 pages... barely missing anything since you could predict what was going to happen within the first 200 pages. Honestly, you could probably skip this book and not miss much.

While the main characters are put on the back burner for the majority of this book, I honestly loved it. Maybe it's just the world building that I enjoyed. A different perspective. It's a bit slow, which is okay for me, but to each their own.

This is probably the only book by Terry Goodkind that I would give less than 4 stars too. After having read Stone of Tears, and Faith of the Fallen, this book was a drag on the series. Thankfully every other book in the set is amazing.
